Brazilian Recycled Paper Consumption
A major paper recycler. Brazil is known for the expressive volume of recovered recyclable papers that, following being discarded, are converted into new products that return to the consumption chain. The population’s growing awareness on the need to focus on environment preservation and campaigns that encourage adequate disposal and selective collection, have greatly contributed to the ever increasing growth of the recycling industry in the country. In 2011, the apparent paper consumption in Brazil registered 9.6 million tons and recovery of wastepapers, 4.4 million tons.
