   Duratex S.A.

Factories/Offices:
São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul; Argentina, United States and Europe

In the early 1950s, two São Paulo entrepreneurs enthusiastically received the results of tests conducted by Swedish technicians that attested to the excellent quality of Brazilian eucalyptus wood. For Eudoro Villela and Nivaldo Coimbra de Ulhoa Cintra, owners of the Los Andes import-export firm, the results set the basis of a pioneering venture in Brazil: the making of a product, which until then was imported from Sweden - hardboard. With the help of Alfredo Egydio de Souza Aranha, the two businessmen turned to Defibrator of Sweden to purchase equipment and machines. This was how, on March 31, 1951, Duratex S.A Indústria e Comércio was born.
