1967 - US entrepreneur Daniel K. Ludwig, who was 74 years old at the time, purchased Jari Indústria e Comércio from its Portuguese owners, including an area of 1,734,606.01 hectares in the Jari region. He then opened a new forestry and ranching enterprise: Jari Florestal e Agropecuária Ltda. Famed as a great visionary and entrepreneur, Ludwig decided to produce high-grade woodpulp and paper in this region from reforested areas. This was the start of the Jari Project, one of the largest and most ambitious agri-business programs of its times. In May 1979, the pulp mill started up operations, producing 120,000 tons during its first year. A highly productive agri-business, it followed a trail-blazing model for sustainable development.

Jari produces two types of pulp Jariliptus ECF and Jariliptus ECF SP. Jariliptus fiber has blends high mechanical resistance with low refining energy consumption, making it suitable for printing and writing papers. Jari also produces high-quality fibers for the tissue paper segment, associated with suitable mechanical resistance, allowing these papers to be produced in high-speed paper machinery. In parallel to its technological expertise, these flexible processes expand the applications for Jariliptus pulp through a wide variety of segments: printing & writing, decorative laminated papers, auto-copy papers, double and triple layer cardboard and special low gram weight papers, as well as toilet paper, tissues and napkins.

Social Responsability:
Jari seeks to consolidate a modelo f productive coexistence betweem man and the environment, taking citezenship concepts to the community. Present in the life of remote communities, where it is difficult even for the state to make its presence felt, the company is trying to consolidate a model productive and responsible coexistence between man and the environment, taking the concepts of citizenship and volunteer work to the population.
