In the early 1980's, Grupo Lwart identified the potential of fast growing industrial forests as an opportunity to diversify its activities. This opportunity met with Lwart's objective to create companies in the region that would prosper, create jobs and increase the overall value of the community. Construction of Lwarcel began in 1986. In May of 2006, Lwarcel received FSC certification for 17,000 hectares (approximately 42,000 acres) of its forests as well as its chain of custody.

Lwarcel Celulose e Papel (Lwarcel Pulp & Paper) is the Grupo Lwart (Lwart Group) company dedicated to the production of bleached eucalyptus pulp as well as specialty pulps made from raw materials such as sisal, abaca and other natural fibers.

Social Responsability:
Grupo Lwart supports local amateur sports, believing that sports are integral to youth development, teaching youth the concepts of partnership, responsibility, citizenship, as well as healthy habits. Grupo Lwart understands that providing such activities helps prevent youth from becoming involved in unhealthy practices such as smoking, alcohol consumption and drug use.
