Ecofuturo Institute is a non-governmental organization, created by Suzano Papel e Celulose in 1999. It acts as an articulator for the implementation of projects that may help to change the less favored communities lives. Its proposal is to stimulate the emancipation of individuals, to reduce inequality, and to promote sustainable development. In accordance with its goals, the institute, with headquarters in São Paulo, promotes educational, preservation, environmental education and culture appreciation projects. Some of these projects have a national scope. The institute has established partnerships with other organizations, corporations, research agencies, public power and universities. Suzano is a member of the Global Compact, is a broad world agreement implemented by the United Nations (UN) aiming at coordinating the synergy among the private enterprises, social organizations and UN agencies. The goal is to contribute towards the advancement of corporate social responsibility practices, in the search of a more inclusive and sustainable global economy.
The Ecofuturo Institute is the biggest prove of its attention to environment, with projects "Parque da Neblina", "Coopamare" (the Cooperative of Collectors of Paper and Recyclable Materials) and "Rio Vivo". In Culture and education area, the Max Feffer Choir, "Ler é Preciso" and Project Q, more than 10,000 children had already benefited.
