LATIN AMERICA PULP AND PAPER INDUSTRY CONFEDERATION

CICEPLA is a non-profitable organization that currently sits representatives of ten Latin America countries - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Its basic aim is to represent the interests of pulp and paper manufacturers from Latin America.

CICEPLA relies on permanent working committees, constantly studying and exchanging information on:
Committee I/Fiber Resources
Committee II/Statistics
Committee III/Foreign Trade and Integration
Committee IV/Environment and Technology
Committee V/Market

Participants on these committees, who usually come from the companies associated with the Confederation, report to CICEPLA's Executive Board. This Board, on its turn, is constituted by representatives of the National Associations of each member country , who are either the president or the former president of these associations.

Bracelpa, as representative of the Brazilian pulp and paper industry, is part of ACPWP - FAO/UN Advisory Committee on Paper and Wood Products, since 2003.

INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF FOREST AND PAPER ASSOCIATIONS

Teresa Presas from CEPI is the current President of the ICFPA that is represented by 40 countries and 6 continents.

Bracelpa and other foreign paper associations representing industries that account for 75% of all the paper produced in the world and for more than 50% of the world wood production, signed in 2002 the creation of their first worldwide association, ICFPA - International Council of Forest and Paper Associations, aiming at joint actions to communicate and clarify issues that affect the industry around the globe. The ICFPA is committed to the principles of the sustainable development and works in partnership with other entities in order to assure environmental, social and economic benefits of natural resources for the current and for the future generations. The member countries elected Elizabeth de Carvalhaes (Executive President of Bracelpa) as the next president of the ICFPA.

 

The ICFPA main goal is to become a forum of joint actions in areas that involve the whole business spectrum, from communication to data collection. The ICFPA members also cooperate in international questions and develop and frame common opinions, representing the industry at UN – United Nations and international organizations.
