FOLDING BOXBOARD
This product results from putting together several overlapping layers of paper - which may be similar or different - and then, compressing these layers in order to cause the adhesion. For these layers, one may use either raw cellulose (renewable resources) or recycled pulp material. Regardless of its type, folding boxboard is manufactured on a basis weight ranging from 200 to 500 g/m2, with or without a surface coating.
The most common types of folding boxboard are:
- DUPLEX
It has a white surface with dark core and backside. In general, it is used for packages of soap powder, medication, cereals, jelly, cake mix, biscuits, crackers and toys.
- TRIPLEX
The surface and the backside are white and the inside is dark. It is used for chocolate, cosmetics, medication, fast food and beverage packaging.
- SOLID (FOLDING)
All the layers are white. It is used for cigarette, cosmetics, medication, personal hygiene, fast food packaging, book covers and post cards.
